From the 2010-2011 Fiscal Year Statistics:
A state public library capital outlay grant to replace the Forest Park Branch Library with a 16,000 square foot new library has been funded by the General Assembly. The existing Forest Park Branch Library opened in 1967 and has 8,100 sq. feet. SPLOST funds for site acquisition and the local matching funds for this grant were approved in 2008. Construction will begin in Fall 2011 with completion expected in the summer of 2012.
CCLS participates in PINES, a public library network of 281 libraries in 140 counties throughout Georgia. PINES creates a statewide "borderless library" that provides equal access to information for all Georgians. Georgians with a PINES library card have access to materials beyond what is available on their local library's shelves and enjoy a shared collection of 8 million books that are delivered to their local library free of charge. During Fiscal Year 2009-2010, our libraries borrowed 22,242 items from and lent 31,226 items to other PINES libraries.
CCLS is a member of GALILEO, Georgia's 'virtual library' which facilitates online access to over 100 databases (including magazine articles and online books) for researchers and students on a wide variety of topics.
