Class 1 of 5: Introduction to Computers - Part 1: This class is intended for adults who have very limited or no experience with computers. The class will provide an overview of the parts of a computer, how to use a keyboard, how to use a mouse, and how to navigate between windows (using the Microsoft XP operating system). Class 2 of 5: Introduction to Computers - Part 2: Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers - Part 1 This class is intended for adults who have very limited experience with computers, but know how to use a mouse and keyboard, and can open and switch between programs. The class will include a brief introduction to document creation (with Microsoft Word), web browsing (with Microsoft Internet Explorer), using program menus, and creating, saving, and organizing files. Circle of Life Classes

Circle of Life classes are classes geared for the soul, mind, and body. Soul, mind, and body medicine is a breakthrough teaching and healing system that promotes self healing, rejuvenation and transformation of the soul, the mind , and the body. Every class presents techniques and demonstrations on how to apply various practices to transform all aspects of life. Classes are taught by Alma Boykin-Thomas and Bill Thomas, certified soul healers and teachers. This is a series and is recommended for adults.

Basic French Classes for Children

Graphic Design Made Easy

Each Saturday, stories will be read in both English and in Spanish. Talented bilingual volunteers will read stories in Spanish and library staff will read in English. ABC Program: Abstinence Becomes Character

This free 10-week WAIT series is presented for teens by Crossroads Comprehensive Youth Development Center and will teach teens how to make wise choices when it comes to peer pressure, conflict, sex, and other important decisions. The library is providing space to CCYDC as a community service. A parent must complete a consent form in order for any teen to attend any sessions. The series will run through April and a schedule of dates will be provided at each session. Registration is for the entire series and MUST be made directly with CCYCD at 770-756-9100 or via ABCprogram@hotmail.com. All sessions will be conducted by CCYDC staff, not library staff, & all questions must be directed to CCYDC. The WAIT series is funded by a U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services grant. Go to the large meeting room off the lobby. (Recommended for ages 12-18)

Leaders of Tomorrow (L.O.T.) Tutoring/Mentoring Program Series

Free tutoring series for elementary, middle, and high school students. Offered by the volunteers from the B.A.S.I.C. Empowerment Corporation, a non-profit organization. This organization strives to meet the academic needs of the students in our community. There will be tutoring, homework assistance, and academic enrichment exercises. Registration is for the whole series and is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. A parent MUST complete a parental permission form and a registration form either prior to participation or on the first day of participation. This series is planned to last at least through the 2009 --2010 school year. Only 20 students may participate and once that many have registered, a waiting list will be taken. The Clayton County Library System is providing space for this program as a public service. All questions about this series must be communicated directly to B.A.S.I.C. Empowerment Corporation via email or by phone.

New Generation Academy Math Tutoring Series

This program is an hour of one-on-one interactive play, songs, finger plays, rhymes, Souns® and book sharing time for parents, caregivers, or grandparents with their young ones. To learn more about go to www.souns.org. You must register in advance. However, you need only register one time for the entire series. This program is for children ages newborn-20 months. Due to the concern for the safety of these young children, older children, up to age 6, may not accompany the Baby Talk attendees. Alternate arrangements must be made for older children.
