Top 10 Things to do on a Rainy Day

It's raining it's pouring....and you are stuck inside!  Here are some ways to bust your bored mood without TV or Videogames.

 
                                                                                               

 

Build a Time Capsule: Make your mark in history by building a time capsule to open 5 years from now. Cut out newspaper stories, write about your favorite memories and where you think you will be 5 years from now, include pictures, or any other neat item.  Decorate your box and don't open it for 5 years.

  

   

 

   

 

   

    

Origami: grab some paper and let the origami fun begin, make anything from paper cups to the famous paper cranes.  The library has origami books to help you along as well!
Make a Bird Feeder: Gather big pinecones from outside then take peanut butter and put some on the cone.  Then sprinkle the pine cone with bird seed.  Take yarn to hang your birdfeeder on an outside tree when it stop raining and go bird watching!  WARNING: Need a parent or adult to assist you.
Redecorate your Room: Is your room boring?  Then spruce it up, clean it up while listening to music and add some cool home made accessories to your room, hang pictures or family and friends, create a homework station, anything you can think of.  The Headquarters library even has a book for girls on how to redecorate their room!
Make Your own Card for Someone Special: Using paper, markers, crayons, or anything you want make a card for a special friend that may be sick or tell your mom and/or dad how much you love them.  Don't know anyone who needs a card?  then create one for a senior citizen at a nursing home or a solider and cheer them up.  (Ask your parents to mail it for you)
Make Playdough! WARNING you need a parent or adult to assist you.  Use this easy and simple to recipe to make your favorite art toy, and make fun shapes such as a castle, bugs, playdough people!

Play a Board or Card Game: Play the new game your learned, or pull out a game of Monopoly, Game of Life, Shoots and Ladders,  or Candyland!
Learn a New Card Game or Learn to Play Chess: ever wanted to learn how to be a chess champ or play a cool card game; check out these sites to learn a new game and play with your friends.
Put on a Play: Make up a story or recreate your favorite book, assign parts, create some costumes from old clothes and entertain away.  The library also has several books about putting on a home play.
