Engaging Your Child in Reading and Learning
- BookHive - "A web site designed for children ages birth through twelve, their parents, teachers or anyone interested in reading about children's books. Providing reader's advisory service, this site contains hundreds of recommended book reviews in a variety of reading levels and interest areas." The reviews found in Bookhive are written by the staff of the Public Library of Charlotte-Mecklenburg County.
- Get Ready To Read - A national campaign to build the early literacy skills of preschool children. The campaign brings research based strategies to parents and early childhood teachers and caregivers for helping prepare children to learn to read and write and is an initiative of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD).
- "Hello Friend" Ennis William Cosby Foundation - Resources for parents to use in dealing with a child with learning differences.
- The Literacy Center - The Literacy Center aims to provide safe learning activities for parents and teachers to share with young children. It follows a modified Montessori approach to teaching reading using online lessons supported by appropriate offline instruction, either at home or in school. The site can be viewed in English, Spanish, German, and French. The Parents & Teachers section helps to explain the various exercises for children to help them learn shapes, symbols, numbers and more.
