Computer Services
The Clayton County Library System is committed to providing the highest quality of information technology to our patrons.
Services offered:
- Public Internet Computers
- All public internet computers have high-speed internet access, Microsoft Office 2003 as well as recent versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Macromedia Flash Player.
- Public access internet session lengths are 60 minutes for Standard Sessions and 20 minutes for Express Sessions. Individual card holders are allocated 120 minutes of county–wide access on a daily basis. Read more.
- Patrons should have a PINES Library Card in order to use our public work stations. However, you may use a Guest Pass if you do not have a PINES Library Card. You must have a picture ID and get a guest pass from the Information Desk. Guest Pass Patrons may use our Express 20 Minute Computers. Please ask at the information Desk if you need assistance reserving a computer.
- Printing - Black and white printing is 15 cents per page, color printing is $ 1.00 a page.
- Children's Computers
- Educational Games: Each branch offers at least 2 children's computers with educational software and Microsoft Office 2003. Games available include, Reader Rabbit, Clifford Phonics, and Math Muncher. Please note that these computers can be used as a word processor.
- Internet Use: Most Children's computers are not connected to the internet. To use the internet, children must show a valid Pines Library Card with parental permission granting internet privileges. Alternately, children without a Pines card may use the internet only under the direct supervision of a parent. Headquarters Branch Youth Services Department offers a public internet computer for youths 17 and under. The above usage rules apply to this terminal as well. Please present your card at the Youth Services Desk in order to use this computer.
- Wireless Internet Service
- All library branches now offer wireless internet access to patrons with a laptop and a wireless network card. All network cards on the market today are compatible with our wireless network. Wireless printing is available at all of our libraries.
- Laptops using Microsoft Windows Vista may have trouble connecting and/or printing.
- Legal Workstations
- Headquarters Branch is now equipped with two terminals specifically dedicated to legal research. Read more.
