Genealogy Room at Headquarters Branch

Headquarters Branch maintains a small room dedicated to genealogy research. The Genealogy Room is available any time the library is open. Materials housed in the Genealogy Room include:
- Census microfilm for Georgia, up to 1920.
**microfilm and microfiche readers and printers are available. - Histories of Georgia counties and towns.
- Family histories.
- Specialized periodicals relating to genealogical records and procedures.
- Periodicals specific to the history of Georgia and other states.
- County and Suburban directories for the Atlanta area.
- Historical materials particular to Georgia, including indexes to collections of deeds, wills,marriage and death records.
- A newspaper clipping file of obituaries published in the Clayton News-Daily. Although dates vary from 1979-1992, most obituaries are from 1980s.*
Most of the material in the collection relate to Georgia and the southeast. For information about holdings of specific titles please call (770) 473-3850.
*Note that the Clayton County Library System does not keep an archive of the Clayton News-Daily. The Main Library at the University of Georgia has a microfilm archive of the paper, as well as other local historic newspapers.
