leadership training & opportunities

Are you a natural leader? Do you want to improve your leadership skills to enhance your ability to help your community? Are you interested in learning more about how local communities and governments function? There are several leadership programs in the area that you might be interested in. Community Action Teens (CAT)
The Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS) runs the CAT program, which is intended for youth ages 14-18 who want to work together to learn and develop leadership skills in order to make a difference in their lives, families, schools, and communities.

Clayton Youth Leadership
Clayton Youth Leadership (CYL) is a teen-oriented version of Leadership Clayton, which is one of the oldest leadership programs in Georgia. CYL focuses on high school sophomores, and is designed to develop leadership skills and to acquaint participants with community needs, challenges, and resources through interaction with local coommunity leaders and decision makers.

The GIRL Movement
A mentoring and career development program that seeks to increase the rate at which girls graduate from high school and pursue a college education.

¡Inspira! Latino Youth Leadership Conference
This annual conference attracts over 1000 Latino youth each yeaer and features topics such as leadership development, opportunities for higher education, cultural awareness, and maintaining a positive outlook to overcome challenges.

Teens Initiating Change
Video about Clayton County's TIC program. This program focuses on giving teens an opportunity to exercise leadership abilities, learn life skills, form relationships with caring adults, and help the community. You will travel and meet interesting members of the community from many different occupations and be a part of group discussions just for teens.
