What is GALILEO?

Galileo

GALILEO is an online collection of over 100 databases giving you access to thousands of magazines, journals, encyclopedias, government publications, and more. GALILEO is only accessible to Georgia residents, and can be reached through Georgia's schools and public libraries.

How do I get to GALILEO?

You can get to GALILEO several different ways.

What is the GALILEO password?

The GALILEO password changes periodically, and you will need the current password in order to access most of the library's databases from outside of our branches or your school. You may obtain the password by:

  • Calling any of our branches during business hours.
  • Logging into your PINES account and clicking the GALILEO link on the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  • Asking your school's Media Specialist. (Your school may have access to different GALILEO resources than the library does. If you are having trouble finding something, please ask us for help!)

How do I use GALILEO?

There are different ways to find information in GALILEO, depending on what type of information you want to find. Your best bet will be to explain to one of our Youth Services Staff what you are looking for, or what you are trying to do, and we can help guide you to the best databases or best search methods.
