The library offers a lot of different types of fun events and programs just for teens. For example, sometimes we will teach art classes, like the one pictured in this slideshow:

Description: The Forest Park Teen Zone will be hosting Dr. Mabel Swaby, and the “Why Try” organizational youth series aimed at helping youth overcome their challenges to achieve success in school and for the rest of their lives. “Why Try” began its program in 1996 and has success stories from around the country in dramatically improving education, learning, and life skills for teenagers. The class instructor, Dr. Mabel Swaby, has over 25 years of service as an educator in the public school system, as a volunteer with the juvenile court system, and with CASA. Description:
First watch a very famous movie character search for a mystical stone. Then learn how worry stones were believed by some of the "Ancients" to have soothing powers when rubbed. Finally take home some worry stones and "rub your worries away." It's more fun to "Don't worry, Be Happy." This program is for older youth, teens, and interested adults.

Description: Presented by VerbalEyze Writers Cooperative (www.verbaleyze.org), this program allows young poets and other members of the community to step to the mic and share words, art, and passions! This open mic will be held at the Headquarters Library every third Saturday of the month. The Clayton County Library is a family-friendly environment, and all open mic content must be appropriate to such an environment.
