After this session...you'll know what it takes to set-up your own studio and make your own music.

Description: The Forest Park Teen Zone will be hosting Dr. Mabel Swaby, and the “Why Try” organizational youth series aimed at helping youth overcome their challenges to achieve success in school and for the rest of their lives. “Why Try” began its program in 1996 and has success stories from around the country in dramatically improving education, learning, and life skills for teenagers. The class instructor, Dr. Mabel Swaby, has over 25 years of service as an educator in the public school system, as a volunteer with the juvenile court system, and with CASA. Turn an old book into a unique piece of art!
An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance and/or meaning. Participants will learn techniques and will take home a finished product.
There are no rules to altered book art. Go “beneath the surface” of the covers of a book and let your imagination soar!
For ages 12-18
